Day 1 – Mestre/Venice
Individual arrivals in Mestre. The city of Venice will captivate you with its splendor acknowledge worldwide. Overnight at the reserved hotel in Mestre.

 

Day 2 – Mestre – Jesolo/Caorle/seacoast (40/65 kms)
After few kilometers on bike, we will take the car ferry pass- ing in front of St. Mark’s square and from Lido a public boat to Punta Sabbioni, the further south area of the Adriatic coast, which is located on the North-East side of Venice. From here we cycle along the stunning seacoast, with many opportunities including a refreshing swim in the sea. The overnight will be in a resorts along the coastline.

 

Day 3 – Jesolo/Caorle/seacoast – Portogruaro (65/40 kms)
Leaving the sea behind us, we will head north towards the Julian Alps, leaving the sea behind us. We will be passing through an area with a multitude od “valli da pesca” (stretches of lagoon enclosed by earthen dikes where extensive fish farming is practiced) and “casoni” (typical constructions used by fishermen in the past during the fishing season). Next we will go to the town of Portogruaro, one of the main centre during the Serenissima Republic of Venice, which is still impressive even today with its glorious Palazzos. Overnight at the reserved hotel in Portogruaro.

 

Day 4 – Portogruaro – Palmanova/Aquileia (60/70 kms)
We will spend the day between the Veneto and Friuli regions passing through an area abundant in water and history, among rivers, canals and ancient Roman towns. Our destination will be Aquileia, with its Roman excavations, and Palmanova, named the “star city” because of its walled town shape. The trip today can be reduced of 20 kms by taking the train from Portogruaro to Latisana. Overnight at the reserved hotel in Palmanova.

 

Day 5 – Palmanova/Aquileia – Trieste (70/50 kms)
We will once again head towards the sea and the gulf of Trieste. Many possible stops along the way, such as Duino with its two castles, Sistiana with its characteristic bay and Miramare with its famous castle built according to the whishes of Maximilian of Augsburg. Just few kilometers lie between us and Trieste the ancient port of the Asburgic Empire, which has much to offer in the way of attractions. This trip can be reduced of 30 kms by taking the train from Monfalcone to Trieste. Overnight at the reserved hotel in Trieste.

 

Day 6 – Trieste – Portoroz (45 kms)
After few kilometers we will cross over into Slovenia. We will cycle along paths through the famous resort of Koper, for a long period a Venetian town and then Austrian. Piran is another important village which was ruled over for along time by Venice. We finally arrive to Portoroz, a renowned town for its spa and bathing facilities. Overnight at the reserved hotel in Portoroz.

 

Day 7 – Portoroz – Porec (55 kms)
Cycling southwards, we will pass through the salt mines of Secovlje, a large Slovenian town with a humid environment, which is a key area as regards ornithology. Some kms later we will cross the Croatian border down along Istria, the Adri- atic sea’s largest peninsula. At the end we will reach the city of Porec, the tourism capital of Croatia which, in 1977 was declared Patrimony of Humanity by Unesco. Overnight at the reserved hotel in Porec.

 

Day 8 – Porec
After breakfast, end of services. Return to Venice by boat. Possibility to book extra nights either in Porec or Venice.
